The Attention Center diagnoses and treats all psychiatric and behavioral problems in children, adolescents and adults.
If you’re seeking help with a child, the first step will be an evaluation to address your concerns about your child’s functioning and needs. In both child and adult clients, we’ll also explore whether other conditions might account for the difficulties.
There will be a clinical interview surveying past and present symptoms, including developmental and medical history, medicines prescribed, and prior testing results, if available.
Our doctors on staff all offer individual and family therapy. In addition, The Attention Center facilitates regular small group therapy to support a wide variety of challenges, ranging from social skills to anger management to friendship.
In addition to testing, we ask where our client feels they most need help. We then develop a wraparound response that may include classroom intervention, education, behavioral or group therapy, non-medication therapies and state-of-the-art medication treatment.
Our ultimate goal is to increase the patient’s self-sufficiency and decrease dependence on our services.
Training. We offer educational support services for kids, adults and professionals, to build self-esteem and teach skills and strategies necessary for success. When the child is our client, we involve the parent, teaching the parent how to teach the child.
Resource Center. We often recommend specific books and learning tools to our clients. These educational materials, including toys used in our practice with ADHD patients, are available for purchase in our resource center.
Public speaking. The Attention Center is committed to advancing public education and understanding of the differences associated with ADHD, as well as other behavioral and psychiatric problems. Staff members are available to speak to local schools, area universities and the media, and participate in health-related seminars, conventions and symposiums.
